Background of Department

• Balochistan Education Endowment Fund (BEEF) is an Initiative of Government of Balochistan for creation of a talented pool of youth of Balochistan including the less privileged section of society; contributing towards economic and social development to realize the dream of a moderate, progressive and prosperous Pakistan by providing Need & Merit based Scholarships out of the “Endowment Fund” granted by Government of Balochistan.
• For maximum transparency and to boost up the performance of the Program, the initiative is being operated as “A Public Sector Company” incorporated with SECP (Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan) under section 42 (Not for Profit Limited by Guarantee) of Companies Ordinance, 1984. The Company is being run under the aegis of Finance Department, Government of Balochistan. Balochistan Education Endowment Fund (BEEF) is being operated on the pattern of The Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF). Another Initiative has been taken by the Government of Pakistan namely National Endowment Scholarship for Talent (NEST) at Federal Level which is also being operated as Public Sector Company.

Mandate and Object of Department

Mandate:

• Creating a pool of talented youth of Balochistan including the less privileged section of society; contributing towards economic and social development to realize the dream of a moderate, progressive and prosperous Pakistan.
• Building a Critical mass of human capital participating in nation building ; through provision of equitable opportunities to academically brilliant boys and girls in Balochistan.

Objectives::

• For achieving above mandate, an Endowment Fund has been created by Government of Balochistan same as Government of Punjab (for PEEF). The current value of Endowment Fund is PKR 5 Billion and Scholarships are paid out of the investments proceeds of the same endowment fund.

Following the successful model of Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF), Government of Balochistan has taken a very fruitful initiative in the name of Balochistan Education Endowment Fund for provision of Scholarships to the needy and hardworking students of the Province. This initiative will have a direct impact on boosting the:

1. Literacy Level of the Province
2. Creation of Future Talented Human Resource directly benefiting the Province and the Country.
3. Improvement of Socio-Economic Condition of the Province and Masses living in it.
4. Targeting the various sub-components of Sustainable Development Goals such as:
1. Ensuring Inclusive and Quality Education for All and promoting Life Long Learning
2. Achieve Gender Equality and Empower All Women and Girls

It is hoped that BEEF will go a long way for motivating talented and needy youth of the province. In coming years, the results of this initiative will be witnessed to its fullest.
